Die Hofrat-Suess'sche Burgerbraterei in unserer Nachbarschaft (von der Brauerstrasse 31 bis zur Brauerstrasse 15 benötigt man ungefähr 1 Nachricht im Skype-Gruppenchat) ist bekanntermassen „The Bite“. Ab sofort serviert das Hipsterlokal auch ein Sonntagsbrunch, American Style.
Es gab neben dem Bite-Classic-Burger auch solche Schweinereien wie den Sausage Muffin oder Eggs Benedict – die Oysters, Chicken Wings und Chilaquiles haben wir schlicht nicht geschafft… Als Sides gäbe es noch Pancakes oder French Toast – schade sind es keine 10-Stacks, dafür aber frisch zubereitet und fein-flaumig. Mein Dessert: Avocado Toast with thick cut bacon. Und danach platzt man.
Was das Bite ausmacht, ist neben dem Ambiente wohl die Tatsache, dass sie frische Produkte home-made servieren, und die Köchin in New York „Culinary Arts“ studiert hat und ihre Kompetenzen und Kenntnisse auch anwendet. Ein bisschen mehr Geld sollte man mitnehmen: Man bestellt vorerst noch einzelne Gerichte, es gibt keine Packages und Kombis (naja, mit der Sausage Muffin Combo – Burger + Pancakes/French Toast – spart man heisse 4 Franken: 29 CHF statt 22 + 11 CHF ), Getränke kommen noch on top. Zu fünft machte die Rechnung dann doch 25o CHF aus – erm, habe ich das gerade wirklich geschrieben? 250 CHF für ein Burger Brunch zu fünft? In EUR wären das 2o5 EUR. Nun ja, also, erm, ja nun, erm, ja, also. Teuer.

We are also really pleased to hear that you enjoyed our brunch. That was our very first opportunity to Showcase our menu and of course we took into account some of your Feedback. For that reason, we have revised our prices so that brunch now includes Combos, which will significantly reduce the cost. We apologize that you had to pay so much on our opening day 🙁 But if we didn’t have meaningful feedback like yours, we would not have realized where we need to compensate. Hi The Bite Team, it’s just me, @hofrat – ok, I’m at least the @hofrat of @hofratsuess team but it is still my personal blog. As you know me & my team are still really enthusiastic fans. My 5 cents on your prices‘ policy: Of course I’m willing to pay good money for awesome food like you’re providing. Of course oraganic quality is more expensive than China imported cheap meat. Of course you’re dealing with the feeling of being at an unique spot. But yeah: 250 Swiss Francs, 5 ppl eating brunch, it is a lot of hay…
